Past window displays at Hepwright's

As my first window display was still up in the Hepwright's window  I thought  I would write a quick post about Hepwright's windows that they have had in the past. So you can really get a feel of what Hepwright's is all about.
Hepwright's as a business work closely with both students and post graduate art and design students from Southampton solent university and Winchester.
Catherine often lets local artist's and craft makers use her shop as a platform to sell or promote there goods. In return they often donate things to go into the shop or window

These wonderful birds where made my Hattie Young as part of a art project originally they hung from trees. She gave them to Catherine afterwards so they could be used as a window display.  The birds are made from willow for the frame and then tissue paper and newspaper to form the  main body. The idea itself seems pretty simple but these have been executed with pure perfection and a large amount of detailing. Each bird seems to have its own personality because of its colours how it is positioned and its expression. This window  may not have a definite theme the birds add such detail and bring life to the window.

Blue jumper was a window display that was created for May and June 2012, the installation was by artist Sarah Filmer.Blue Jumper Blog Here is a link to here blog about the piece.

These are all photographs off The Hepwright's  Facebook of after the Blue jumper exhibition has finished and it had made its way into Hepwrights shop window.
Blue jumper was a one off window display because it didn't contain any clothes at all, however the window worked extremely well at making a impact and making people take notice enquire about what it was all about. Displays like this are great once in a while to really get people talking they don't need to contain anything the shop sells in them because they bring people into the shop to talk about what it is and why it is there. Many people that did not get to see the Blue Jumper exhibition could still go down to Hepwrights and see part of it on display. Hepwright's also held a night where people to add to the piece knitting there own section this was also a fantastic way of getting people talking about not only the display but Hepwright's as a shop.
By hosting events such as Blue Jumper it continues to build a personal relationship with customers which is one thing Catherine works very hard at making sure she gets to know her customers and makes them feel at home in her shop. Having this relation with  her customers means she can contact them if she finds something she knows certain people will like and it creates a very lloyal customer base.

Halloween Window for October 2012 consisted of styling and painting many pumpkins such as these.

Alll of these amazing one of pumpkins were placed in the window to create this fantastic window display.

On Halloween Hepwright's held a one off vintage sale day at local retro bar Orange Room's they used there window to promote that they were holding this event.

As Orange Rooms is only around the corner from Hepwright's passers by could just  walk round and visit the sale.

Displays like this that are iterative work great with customers because they  give them something to look at instead of just clothes on mannequins.
I plan on using interaction as part of one of my window displays to see how it works.
